Dermaroller

Botox Sheffield, Fillers Sheffield, Nurse Louise Beer

Dermaroller is an amazing skin roller which can naturally increase your skin's level of collagen and elastin. Scars, stretch marks, wrinkles and pitted skin are all a product of insufficient collagen. Dermaroller enables your skin to rejuvenate and repair itself - returning itself to its former condition, resulting in firmer tighter, and younger looking skin.

The Dermaroller (also called skin rollers, microneedle rollers) is a small hand-held rolling device it has 192 micro surgical steel needles that penitrate the inner surface of your skin to promote skin repair from the inside out. It stimulates elastin and collagen production within the skin without causing any damage. They are available in a variety of different lengths which range from 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm for home use. Medical professionals use 2 mm up to 2.5 mm
(for professional use only).

The procedure
For patient comfort the skin is prepared with a topical anaesthetic that numbs the skin, it usually takes about 10 minutes for the anaesthetic to work. The roller needles penetrate the skin as the roller is passed 6 times over each area of treatment.

The Dermaroller therapy takes around 20-30 minutes to complete, afterwards the skin is treated with an oxygenating moisturising skin cream, and a sun block SPF50.

Post Treatment
Following Dermaroller therapy the body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, by working below the surface in the dermis. This takes time as new collagen is formed, new skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced. It can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months, providing you with a natural and long lasting enhancement.

Dermaroller therapy generally consists of either a single treatment for a quick boost in radience or a course of three procedures with approximately 4 weeks between them.

The treatment of acne scars and other types of scarring may require up to 5 procedures.
