Thread Veins
Spider veins are also called Telangiectasia. Telangiectasia are defined as red blood vessels smaller than 1 mm in diameter. Venulectasias are blue, sometimes distended above the skin surface, and smaller than 2 mm in diameter.
Treatment with advanced electrolysis
Red veins, thread veins or "dilated capillaries" are visible spidery veins that can be found on the face and body, and tend to be found in the deeper layers of the skin. Red veins are common, and develop as veins lose elasticity and dilate.
Advanced electrolysis treats the vein with a tiny current of electricity to cauterise the area, allowing skin to heal without a scar.
The treatment
A topical anaesthetic is applied for patient comfort. Most patients describe it as feeling like a mild warming sensation. The treatment sessions available are 30 minutes or 60 minutes long, depending on the amount of thread veins to be treated.
Preperation prior treatment
You should avoid sun exposure for six weeks before treatment.
After the treatment
Some patients will experience mild redness or swelling immediately following the advanced electrolysis, however gel will be given to apply and the skin should settle the following day. Small scabs will appear that should be left to fall off over the next week or so. Some areas may require more than one treatment, your practitioner will advise you at the consultation.
